The North side of the Cotopaxi is the most visited side of the mountain. On this side you can get really high by car (up to 4600m) and with a relatively easy walk you can reach the refuge from where you can go a bit higher up. The day trips mentioned below are easy and possible for everybody in normal physical conditions. If you don't want to go as high as 4600m, please contact us so we can help you with an alternative tour into the Cotopaxi National Park.

Day tour North Face Cotopaxi.

From Latacunga we leave in our 4x4 vehicles at 08.30 am towards the Cotopaxi National Park.  After paying the entrance fee to the park, we will visit the small museum (Mariscal Sucre) and we continue to the Lagoon of Limpiopungo at 3.880m. Then we go to the parking site of the refuge at 4.650m and from here we will walk to the refuge José Rivas at 4.800m, it´s about 45 min. We ascend to the beginning of the glacier, enjoy the views and around 04.00 pm we will be back in Latacunga.

Day tour North Face with downhill mountainbike!

The bike adventure on the world’s highest active volcano begins today! We leave Quito early in the morning and drive towards the refuge inside the Cotopaxi National Park. From the parking lot at 4600m we bike down on dirt roads through volcanic ash and páramo landscape to the Inca ruin at 3.700 m. In the afternoon we bike on dirt roads and single track down from Lake Limpiopungo through pine forest.
