On the Chimborazo we offer 2 day tours with mountain bikes:


Day tour Chimborazo with downhill mountainbike ride.

On this day tour to Chimborazo we can enjoy the beauty of Ecuador’s highest mountain in an active way. We leave at 9.00 a.m. from Riobamba. For about 1 hour we drive through the pictoresque landscape of the Andean highlands before we enter the Reserva Faunística Chimborazo. After crossing El Arenal, a desert-like area where we can observe the vicuañas (a kind of lama), we park the car at 4800m.  near the first refuge. From here we hike to the Whymper refuge at 5000m. altitude. After the hike we will have a meal with hot coca-tea, and then we will start the downhill mountain bike ride. We'll descend from 4800m to 2900m, over a distance of 35 km. Our guide and support vehicle will stay close to us for assistance. Arrival at Riobamba at about 16.30

Price: $55,00 per person with a minimum of 2 people.

1 day tour Chimborazo by mountainbike with return through hidden valley!

This is a beautiful bike ride far from the tourist routes. Starting at a remote indigenous village you will cycle down to the Tungurahua province, exploring the magnificent valleys northwest of the Chimborazo volcano.

Departure from Riobamba at 8.30 a.m. For about 1 hour we drive through the beautiful and pictoresque landscape of the Andean highlands, before we enter the Chimborazo Reserve. We park the car at 4800 m. altitude, near the first refuge. From here we can walk to the Whymper refuge at 5000 m. altitude. After the hike we start the first downhill section, descending a dirt road from 4800 m. to 4000 m. altitude over a distance of 8 km. We continue by car for about 15 minutes until we arrive at the indigenous village of San Luis, which is the starting point of the second bike section (about 50 km.). We cycle gently downhill on dirt roads and cobble-stone, passing several traditional communities. Further on we enjoy the spectacular landscape with green valleys, giant rock formations and small waterfalls. After a final stretch on a quiet asphalted road we arrive at Ambato (2600 m. altitude), capital of the Tungurahua province. From here you can either return to Riobamba or continue your trip to Baños, Latacunga or Quito.
