Otavalo, is a city of the Imbabura province, in Ecuador; Located 110 kilometers north of the city of Quito, Otavalo has been declared an “Intercultural Capital of Ecuador” as a city with enormous potential in several aspects, possessing a landscape charm, cultural richness, history and commercial development. This Andean valley is home to the Kichwa indigenous ethnic group of the Otavalos, famous for their textile and commercial skills, characteristics that have given rise to the largest indigenous artisan market in South America. The Plaza de Ponchos or Plaza Centenerio, the largest colorful craft market in South America, is a confluence where people from all over the world come to admire diversity and craftsmanship and commercial skills.
We Departure from Quito 8:00 o´clock in the morning to Otavalo in Imbabura province; we will have some stops before we arrive to Otavalo market
Cayambe town, in this town people have a typical biscuit (bizcocho) we will stop to visit where people cook this traditional biscuit, we will spent a few minutes and then we will continue to San Pablo Lake, in this point we have a chance to see many birds as: Geese, ducks, Andean coots and herons we will spent time for pictures and we will continue to Peguche waterfall.
Peguche waterfall, in this place we have a trek for 1 hour going and back to watching the waterfall, this place is administrated for the community is because we need to give contribution with some money for care this place and finally we will arrive to Otavalo town, in this place you will need take your time for enjoy the Otavalo market, on Saturdays there is a huge market but days of week is open the main square market, around this market we will take a lunch and we start to drive back to Quito
